Use a browser wallet and a test account you control.
- Switch to Base Sepolia
BaseCash runs only on the Base Sepolia test network. Nothing here uses real money.
- Get test ETH for fees
Every action is a transaction with a small fee paid in test ETH. Base Sepolia faucets give it out free, usually once a day. It has no value.
- Get test tUSDC
Swap a little test ETH (0.01 by default) for BaseCash test tokens. Test USDC from faucets is a different token and won’t work here.
- Shield a small amount
You’ll choose a backup passphrase that encrypts your notes in this browser. Send moves one whole note, so shield the exact amount you plan to send. Shielded before? Unlock or restore your notes under Shielded.
- Export your encrypted backup
Your notes exist only in this browser. Keep the backup file and your passphrase together. Nobody can reset them for you.
Check your downloads for basecash-encrypted-backup.json. BaseCash can’t see whether your browser saved it.

1 · Share your receive code
The code holds a public encryption key and the start of your wallet address (8 characters after 0x), so share it as you would your address. Creating one also starts a download of your updated encrypted backup; check that the file saved.
2 · Import and claim the payment
After their Send confirms, the sender gets an encrypted payment file and passes it to you. Import it here, then approve Claim in your wallet. Until your Claim confirms, the sender can still spend it, so don’t count it as received.

Notes and your receive key exist only in this browser. Export after each shielded action and keep the file with your passphrase. No account or sign-in can recover them.
Advanced recovery
Only needed when an action was interrupted: the tab closed, the wallet failed, or confirmation took too long. Recovery data was saved, encrypted, before your wallet was asked to sign.
Check your wallet activity first. If the transaction was sent or its status is uncertain, choose Recover pending (paste its hash if BaseCash didn’t record it). Retry the same action only after confirming no earlier attempt can still confirm. A separate token approval may also appear in your wallet. BaseCash keeps an unfinished action until it is sent or resolved, so a note isn’t lost.
